PAC Produced Events for 2008

Philadelphia Track Classic   
April 5, 2008
The 1st Annual Meet was held under mixed skies
and some wind with over 75 athletes from 4 Div 2
Colleges (From the CACC) and over 6 clubs
(Master, youth and open) represented. The meet
focused a lot on middle and distance events with a
mix of a few sprints.  Philadelphia University Men
won the CACC Cup for Top CACC Team along with
the Goldey Beacom Women taking the women's
CACC Cup. The meet was produced and
sponsored by Philadelphia Athletic Charities and
supports Philadelphia University Athletics.

Philadelphia Univ Distance Carnival  
The distance track carnival which was scheduled
for April 13, 2008 at Penn Charter HS has been
cancelled for 2008 due to scheduling conflicts.
Look for the meet in 2009.

Philadelphia University Ram Run     April 26,2008
The 1st Annual 5k Race was held under partly
sunny skies and good temperature for the race.
After a pace bike mishap, the winner was
determined to be Stephen Spinelli, 22 who won the
race for the men and Sarah Simonetti ,17 for the
women.  Race proceeds benefited the "Make a
Wish Foundation, the Physician Assistant Program
and the Cross Country Program at the University.

Ocean City Police Chase   June 14, 2008
The 6th Annual 5k race and 2 Mile Fitness Walk
was held under beautiful skies with the biggest
turnout yet for the event.  There were over 230
runners in the 5k and 25 in the 2 mile walk. Overall
winner was Tim Carroll with a time of 15:57. The
overall female champ was Jen Liney with a time of
19:24.  Team Champion were the Fords.
Wonderland Pier was the title sponsor with  
proceeds of the event supporting the Ocean City
PBA who support many local activities in Ocean

Student Run Philly Style
Belmont Cross Country Race
July 22, 2008
Over 60 Student Run Philly Style Runners
competed at the 2nd Annual  Belmont Plateau XC
Classic in 85 degree weather. For many, it was the
first time at the famous 3 mile course.  The male
winner was Anthony Fox (15 yr) in 22:38 and the
female winner was Dana Kilgarriff (16 yr) in 27:19.
(Mentors competed along with the students.) The
race at Belmont was a great experience for the
Student Run Philly Style athletes and one of many
race experiences they will have this season.

Philadelphia Catholic League XC Open
October 18, 2008
The 14th Annual Cross Country race is open to any
runner who wants to challenge the 5,000 meter
high school course at the legendary Belmont
Plateau. The also serves as the MA-USATF
Championship and starts the day off for the boys
and girls championship races. Race proceeds
benefit the Philadelphia Catholic League Coaches
Association.

Schuylkill River Loop Run  November 16, 2008
The 36th Annual 8.4 Mile race around the walk
around the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia  is a
great last tune up race before the Philadelphia
Marathon.  The Loop Race is the oldest-continously
 held road race in Philadelphia started in 1972. The
race event also hosts the 8th Kelly Drive Racewalk.
Race proceeds support the Students Run Philly
Style Program and the Fairmount Park

Jack Saint Clair Memorial Cross Country Champs
Saturday, December 6, 2008
The 1st Annual race to honor Philadelphia coaching
legend, Jack Saint Clair will be held on the same
Belmont Plateau XC course "The Saint" helped
design for the 1976 AAU Championship. Saint Clair
was a longtime coach for both Cardinal Dougherty
HS, Temple University as well as a member of the
1950 Penn State National NCAA XC Champions.
The men will be challenged with a 10,000 meter
and women with a 6,000 meter XC race along with
a 1 mile fun run. Proceeds will benefit Jack Saint
Clair Fund as well as the upkeep of Belmont
Plateau Cross country race courses.
